does anybody make a re-usable diff cover gasket for the stock GM 10-bolt? i have a paper gasket on there now with no problems but i heard about re-usable rubber gaskets. i tried searching online and couldn't find anything.

 

I only use silicone id never use paper gaskets.

 

Ive always just used a bead of high temp rtv and never had a problem.

I think you can still get the gasket from the parts store or dealer though.

 

RTV red (orange) high temp silicone. I haven't used a gasket on a diff since the early 80's.

This stuff is designed to work in an oily environment. I use it as end rail gaskets on my intake manifold. The only downside is how well it sticks. You need a razor blade or buffing pad to remove it. It's commonly used on many factory engines as a replacement for gaskets. Guaranteed not to leak.

 

Since most people only remove the cover once a decade or more, a reusable seems unnecessary.
