Shift Linkage Problem?
My 87 IROC (350Tpi, 700R4) will not go into park. Drive, Neutral, and Reverse work fine (lol, more than fine) but when I go to get the car into park, no matter how hard I pull, the shifter wont go into park. I'm currently using the hurst shifter (black ball, and hooked pull lever contraption) which I've been informed has a tendency to shred shifter cables. Does this sound like its simply a frayed shifter cable, or should I really be worried?

Re: Shift Linkage Problem?
There is a plastic button on alot of the older camaro's that breaks off with time, I don't know if thats on your car but if it is/was then the button used to slip onto the stud from the trans. and the cable snaped over the button, this button let the stud rotate inside the cable end. Then usually there would be either a lock nut or snap ring or clip through the end of the stud to prevent the cable from falling completely off when the plastic button broke. Because of the direction the cable pulls the trans shifter, if the plastic button was missing there would be to much gap for the cable to put the trans. in PARK. The plastic buttons run about $3 at the dealerships. BUT then again it could be a loose console connector, if its the cable then it won't last long.
