T-10 On 305

Wondering if I'm safe to bolt up a t-10 to a 305?, Couple of more questions too I'll list them off:
- Would my t5 balhouseing work with this transmission?
-Also would the drive shaft work or would i need a different lenth one?
My car is a 91 trans am with a 305 TPI, with 3.43 rear end (would i have to change the rear end gears?) Why I want to know this is because i blew my t-5 and got a really good deal on a t-10 from a family member ,and i know its a good transmission, and am planning on putting a 383 stroker into the car in the future... Thanks for any help guys let me know

Also wondering if i would have to do any mods to the floor or anything like that

- No, bolt pattern is different.
- You need a driveshaft from an '82... its a few inches longer.

You'll need a method of attaching the torque arm to use the T10, unless its one from an '82 like I have, which has torque arm provisions on it. Spohn (big sponsor at the top of this page) makes everything you'd need to put the old style T10 in your car though.

Re: T-10 On 305

I personally would not go with a T-10, either the Saginaw or Borg-Warner one. The reason is because without the overdrive gear, with those rear end gears, you will likely pull upwards of 3k-4k RPMs just to do the speed limit. The 4th gear ratio on a T-10 is 1:1, which is basically like driving around an auto f body in 3rd all the time.

If you really want the T-10, try driving a 700R4-equipped f body around a few days in 3rd, if you can live with that, go ahead with the swap. I didn't want to, which is why I'm swapping my T-10 with a T-5.
