87 IROC 3.27 posi rear end swap
87 IROC 3.27 posi rear end swap
I am new here and have searched this topic but I have a couple questions about a drum to disc swap. I want to put an 87 posi/disc rear end in my 89 drum brake car. I pulled the posi unit out of a car I parted out. I did not get the emergency brake cables. I removed the only brake line bracket I saw and cut the line there. I did get the proportioning vave. Will the e-brake cables on the 89 work? Did I miss any brackets on the underside of donor car that I will need? If so, where can I purchase the extra items I will need as my donor car is scrapped. Thanks for any info

If you pulled the entire diff assembly, you'll need the park brake cables, brake line, combination valve, probably the master cylinder but I'm not sure if the piston size is different.

I went to car quest and they make an adapter fitting thats takes the lines form the car and adaptes them to a 11mmx1.50 fitting.
As you can see that this is an unusual thread size, but the pitch is a common metric size. So what i did was chuck the fitting in the lathe. And remove .025" from the threaded portion this in turn equals to .050" total. Then ran a 10mm 1.50 die over the fitting. The fittings turned out awesome. The best part is that you dont need to cut and re flare the lines. If you dont have access to a lathe buy the fittings, then take them to a machine shop and have them cut them for you. Tell them to reduce the diameter of the threaded portion by .050" Then eithe have them thread them with a 10mm x 1.50 die, or you can do that your self.

Thanks for the info. Got any idea about where to purchase the e-brake cables I forgot to grab off donor car?
