Car: bandit II Firebird
Engine: 3.1
Transmission: auto
Axle/Gears: 3.42
trans problem or not?

I have a 90 firebird 3.1L v6 and the problem (or not) is that it revs up to about 6500 rpms before it shift and as a result is feel like it has no power. aslo it deosn't like to shift out of 1st and 2nd on the fly.so is this normal?

Sounds like you have a tv cable or valve issue, I would check that TV cable is hooked up first

Almost sounds like the plastic gear sheared off the governor. There is a round metal cover on the left (driver) side of the transmission. Carefully pry it off and pull out the govenor. There is a gear on there held on with a roll pin, if it's trashed get a new one from GM.
