hey all,

well, i am in an hotel in maryland, on my way to florida. being this far from home makes this even more urgent... so you see my dilemma.

to preface this problem, i will tell you that the lockout that keeps you from shifting into gear when your foot is on the brake has never worked... its always just shifted regardless of my brake pedal. i don't know if thats significant to the issue, but i figured i would mention it.

about 300 miles ago, i went to shift the car into gear and the shifter stuck.. i pulled hard, and it popped and clicked 2 positions... i had to nudge it up into reverse and it went into gear. now there is a lot of slop in the gear locations... the lock works, but i can just push it with almost no effort right into neutral. it used to at least hesitate at the different gears (d,3,2,1).. now it seems all loose. i know the cable isn't broken, cause it still works(ish). once she is in gear, it works just fine.. no slipping, nothing. its just a bitch to get it into gear now. any suggestions? If you guys have pictures of what the two linkages look like (at the tranny, and at the shifter) that would be super helpful, as i need a guide as to what the stuff is supposed to look like. kinda hard to figure out whats broken if u don't know what it looked like in one piece.
