how to tell if its a WC t-5? and a couple of ?'s

Im looking into buying a t-5, its out of a 91 camaro. The tranny is going to be out of the car, how can I tell if its a t-5 or a WC T-5? Im going to put it behind a 500 Hp 530 TQ (at the flywheel) 383, am i wasting my time with either of the trannys?

The dude wants 600 for the whole tranny, slave/master and pedels...to much or just about right on the price...I think its to much for not knowing the condition.

I think hes asking way too much, you can tell by the countershaft bearing. Thats quite a bit of power to throw at a lil ol t-5 that you can blow up with a factory 305..

No way will it hold up. If you do get it, take a video of your first hole shot. KAAWAANNNGGGGG.... As far as price, High... I purchased a W/C T5 professionally rebuilt for $900.

Thats a tough one. You need to know how many miles on it. Is he parting out a car, or does he just have it laying around? Does he have a 3rd Gen? If he does, Look at it and see if it's a 5 speed. See where I'm going? If you know him and feel secure about the tranny then $325-350. But I'm cheap, so maybe a little more but not much. Also, all T-5's are not the same. They differ between engines V6 to V8. Different number of splines on the shaft Etc...

yeah I do. I know he got the car for like 2-300 ish because it was rear ended. He needs the front clip off of it. So hes parting it out. But I also know that scrap metal is 250 a ton here, and hes going to be getting his money back instantly when he junks it. I mean I dont blame someone for makin money, but to me thats nuts. I thought he was going to say 250-300, but when he said 600 i was shocked. Hes excuse was well these go on ebay all the time for 800 bucks, so im giving you a cheap price. Ill probally just let this one go, and just put the money aside for a t-56.

The whole ebay business tickles me because unwitting, unknowledgeable people sometimes pay outrageous prices for pieces they could get cheaper elsewhere. My favorite example is the Wonderbar which was going used for $50 or $60 or more while the darned things were still available brand new from GM for $34. Of course, the seller is smiling!

at the local pick a part I got all the conversion parts with a wc t-5 that turned out to be recently rebuilt (it was tagged by the shop that did the work) for $250, look around you will find the parts cheaper.

I'm seeing that all the time with the rocker emblems. People are paying $175-$200 for a used set when you can get just about every color and type for $48.00 reproduction, but high quality never the less.
