Adjusted TV cable and found something interesting
After reading a very useful link someone posted the other day on correctly setting the TV cable for a 700R4 http://www.tvmadeez.com/article/index.php , I went out last night and did the procedure on my car. Took less than 30 seconds. Just looking at it, I didn't think that the adjustment changed the cable at all. Driving it today, though, I could feel that the shifts were much smoother. This is pretty much what I expected. What I didn't expect was the effect on my speedometer. Before adjusting the TV cable, the needle bounced like the cable needed to be lubricated. This had been on my "to do" list, but it turns out that the speedometer cable wasn't the problem. Instead, correctly setting the TV cable has made the speedometer needle rock steady. I hadn't realized that one symptom of an improper TV cable setting was speedometer bounce.
