what clutch do you have?

There probably is a thread for this somewhere already but it should be stickied. I am trying to decide what clutch brand to use. I heard Borg Warners were good but they dont seem to still be produced? I have a 305 h.o. camaro.

Thanks

Re: what clutch do you have?

i'm using a centerforce dual friction in my car.. its a 385 and the clutch holds just fine.. sometimes too good.. but i did have a problem with it during powershifting..

my theory had it that the weights were making the clutch fingers bend under quick operation making the pedal almost useless for super fast shifting.. i almost always missed a gear while doing this.. after i took off the weights, it works like a charm..

i'll be going to a Ram Powergrip HD after this one goes..

Re: what clutch do you have?

I use a stock clutch, maybe 350HP here. It holds better than my tires can, so...

Re: what clutch do you have?

you do not use a stock clutch. how many miles does your car have like 15k? most camaros i've heard of especially z28s are on there second by 30-40k miles.

Re: what clutch do you have?

oh not stock as in "left michigan with it in there", but stock as in parts store replacement for 1982 Trans-am. Not a high end aftermarket $300+ part. I just paid $70 for the friction disc and threw it in, and used a new TO bearing and I was good to go.
Once I have really sticky tires, and some more HP, i'll be looking at a centerforce dual friction, i've heard good things.
