1967 12 bolt, 3.73's...how to make it work?

Hey,

Someone here is selling a 67 GM 12 bolt with 3.73's off a GM 1/2 ton...in excellent condition for 225 bucks...I know a 12 bolt is much stronger than the stock 10 bolt but what will it take to make it fit?

I see 12 bolts and such going for almost 2000 bucks sometimes that are ready to drop in our cars, how much time/money would it take to make this 12 bolt work with my car, or should I be looking at something else or one already modified?

Thanks for the help!

you would have to get a plate for the torque arm mounted to it, which is going to be very expensive (there are very few people that can weld iron) than you have to make sure the legnth of the axle tubes/axels are correct and have the correct brackets welded onto them, I would honestly sell it and try to pick up a moser or strange bolt in unit, or get a moser or strange bare case for our cars and have your innerds put in it

FYI that is a truck 12 bolt. It is different from a passenger car 12 bolt.

The width will be off it will have 6 lug axles, and you will need to get new axles and or shorten yours. The rear axle will need to be shortened and the brakes will probably not work.

The truck 12 bolt belongs under a truck.

It will be too wide. You'll need new axles. It's weaker than a car 12 bolt because it has a smaller diameter pinion shaft. Although all the spring, shock, LCA and panhard bar mounts can be switched over, there's no easy or cheap way to install the torque arm unless you convert to ladder bars or a 4-link and that adds even more to the cost.

In the long run, it will be cheaper to just buy an aftermarket bolt in 12 bolt.
