Manual Valve-package for TH700R4?!

Do anyone of u know if there are Manual valve-packages avaliable for TH700-R4? (aftermarket)

If there is any, I whould like to know. I will be restoring my gearbox, and I'm searching for different ways to make the gearbox sportier.

I have heard about a valve-package that makes the gearbox complete manual in the 1-D gears, and automatic in the Overdrive. Maybee that could be a way to build it. ?! Not sure right now...

Look into the TransGo re-programming kit. It can be set up as a full manual, where each gear is selected by the shifter position.

Or, it can be set up as an auto upshift/downshift. But, with the capability of holding any gear to any RPM. Which means a manual downshift, shifts now.

Do somebody know how fast the response of shifting it has in the manual section? I will put in wider bands and a Z-pack and more, so maybee it will help me.

I had a transgo shift kit with the "stick option". A manual valve body prepped by Dana at Probuilt. All shifts were instant.
You move the lever (up or down) and it shifts!
BTW, with the automatic option, if you move the lever to upshift, it does not upshift before the governor signal.

Re: Manual Valve-package for TH700R4?!

Sorry, but what do u mean with BTW?

Maybee I'll try the Transgo kit this time, it sounds good if the shift comes nere to the movement.

So, does'nt the manual shifts work by using the gouvernor for shiftpoints? I have been testing with B&M shiftpoints-kit, but i did'nt like it, because it moved the highest gear (Overdrive) over the speedlimit (110kmh) so I could'nt drive legaly on the highest gear. But I think that problem appears from the valvebody. It shifts at 4000rpm with WOT.

Re: Manual Valve-package for TH700R4?!

The transGo shift kit can be installled in Automatic option or in Stick Only option.
The automatic option will change your 700R4 Only for the fact that it will shift faster and that you can hold any gear at any rpm.
This is true only on UPSHIFT.
If you are with the lever in D and you are passing from 40 mph to 0 mph , when the car is slowing down, it will down shift automatically to 2 then to 1.
You can put the lever in 2 and it starts in 1 then it will shifts to 2 and it stays in 2 forever. If you engine is good to go 8000 it will stay in 2.
With the trasgo "stick Only" option, if yuo are with the lever in OD and yu are 10 mph it will stay in OD. The gear selected is the position in the lever.
It's a manual without a clutch. You have to put 1 to start, than put 2 ...
With the trasgo "stick Only" option the governor is upgraded with a holding clip that spreads the wheigts.
In this way the governor is inoperative.

Re: Manual Valve-package for TH700R4?!

So it is the same TransGo kit, but u can install it in two different ways? (Automatic or manual)
Is the only differens between them that u can put in the holding clip into the gouvernor? If it is like that, it would be very easy to switch from aut/manual by taking the gouvernor out and switch the clip?

I would like to be able to shift down from D to 2 and then have the 2 locked, so it does'nt shift down to 1 by pressing the pedal down (kickdown). Then it seams like I'd better try the fully manual option?! Think it like u come driving on a wet curve and u want to drift it controlled, then i will go from D to 2 and just give some power, but it can be a bad happend if the gearbox by it self put the 1 gear in. I would like to have it stick. Maybee I'm crazy =P but I would like to have more control over what gear I'm driving on.

Re: Manual Valve-package for TH700R4?!

The valve body will be prepped different on "stick Only" option than the "automatic "option.
If you want to be sure that the 2 don't downshift to 1 applying too gas during the corner, the manual option is your option.
The description for the auto option: "Holds any gear at any RPM" it's something that let you understand that you can use all gears without having automatic downshifts.
This is not true.
About the governor clip.
The governor clip it's only one of the mods you have to do to achieve full manual control. The valve body and the separtaor plate needs to be modified in a different way than the Automatic option.

Re: Manual Valve-package for TH700R4?!

One more question!

What will happen if start on a high gear (D) with manual option? Will the engine die of the low rpm or will it just be slow in the start?

Re: Manual Valve-package for TH700R4?!

If you start with the selector lever in D, the car starts in 3rd.

Don't ask me how I know..

It will not die, and if you have a good amount of torque il will start (slower than 2 or 1). You have to avoid this because the stress on the trans parts.

Starting in 2 is not good too, but if you have a higer numerically rear (3.73 and over), you will have not problems.
When I had this feature on my trans I used always to strat in 1.
