I am considering a 78 10 bolt rear end to replace my 92 firebirds, the question i have is will it match up and if not do you know if the 'guts' can be moved across these?

also if there are any how to's on axle removal, i cannot seem to locate the pin holding my axles in

No, not interchangeable not the entire rear or just the gears...i wish they were the 8.5 in 10 bolt in that 78 is a pretty stout and afordable rear but nope wont work....and like i said the "guts" wont change either ur rear is the 7.625 no interchangeablity.... its a c clip that holds ure axles in but i dont know where any write ups are check the search and search google...try searching c-clip axle removal hope that helps

the 78 rear end is a leaf spring rear and the 92's rear end is a coil spring setup which are totally diff.

Nothing is interchangeable between the 78's 8.5" 10 bolt and the 92's 7.625" 10 bolt. They're 2 completely different diffs inside and out. You'll have just as much luck trying to fit a fox body 8.8".

Although the 92's ring gear is still tiny, the 90-92 is the strongest 10 bolt available in the third gens.
