auto to manual
Pretty sure I have a 700r4, (anyways, 4 speed auto with OD). I want to go manual. What would be the best (for the car and performance) but cheapest way to go?

Re: auto to manual
cheap and best rarely go together, and cheap is a relative term. a t56 can be had, sometime for less that 1k from a donercar or a wrecking yard. But then there are also a list of conversion parts you need to install the trans and the pedals, hydraulics ect.
a complete used t5swap can usually be had for around 500-800 from hawks or ebay, depending on mileage and completeness
after that, a good performance t56 or tko trans alone costs around 2000 and up new, just for the trans.

yeah, i didnt put that together to well. i basically meant t5 or t56. t5 would be cheaper, but would it be worth it to spend the extra for the t56?

yep, you can beat on a t56 and it wont snap like a twig.
i see that the car is a 6clyinder? if its going to stay that way a t5 would be just fine. just make sure to get one for a v6 car.

Re: auto to manual
cheapest way is to swap with a friend.
Cost me about $20 to swap from an Auto to a T5 in my 88 Formula. Couple of bucks for a Pilot Bushing and some tranny fluid.
