Quick t5 question

will the t5 from my 89 v8 work on my brother's 98 v6 firebird?

any differences?

No it won't fit,the bellhousing is different.

he has the v6 bellhousing from his t5, i was going to send him an upgraded unit because he blew his. are input and output shafts the same?

No, the splines are different on the input shaft. You can do a search and find out the difference, but I think V8's require 28 spline shaft and V6 less, maybe 26 spline shaft.

It will not be a direct fit because the input shaft on the V6 is about .5" longer than the 1988-92 V8 cars.

Like I said, This is a quote from the above link "The T5 offered in V6 engines has a different bellhousing to match the V6, as well as a 10 spline input shaft, compared to the V8's 27 spline input shaft."

So it's more of a problem than just being .5" longer. The splines wont match up.

Use the v8 clutch disc, 26 splines (v6 is 14) and just use whatever pressure plate you have. The clutch is interchangeable other than the clutch disk. As for the bellhousing, you may be able to shorten the v6 bellhousing a bit and get it to work.
