700r4 newbies with early shifting
Ive got an 88 700r4 behind a 305tpi... Since Ive owned the car its had a problem with early shifting and feeling like its making more show than go at WOT. I decided to have the trans rebuilt with an overhaul kit, corvette servo, 2200 tc, and .5 boost valve. I installed the fresh rebuild and was sorley disappointed when it still shifted early, I traced back what I hadnt changed,,, the tv cable and the dipstick. Yesterday I replaced the tv cable and it made a huge difference on the performance side especially at WOT, it was finally pulling instead of making alot of noise. But it was still shifting early, not as bad but still early, so I decided to search and ask some Q's and I was told to remove the smaller spring on the governor. Well late last night I searched again to find out where it was and how to remove it, its the large button cap on the rear driver side. I pulled it removed the spring but couldnt get the cover back on.. I took my dremel with a sanding drum and slowy ground it down till it was a snug fit but not impossible to put back in and coated it with seal all... It worked perfect, the car is so fun to drive now, good shifts and pulls hard.

Im not totally sure.. it wasnt a huge difference but definetly noticable ... maybe 400 rpm higher when not on the gas at all..... the more gas the more noticable it is.....
