4.10 gears on 2001 LS1 rear end?
http://www.jegs.com/i/Richmond%20Gea...22-1K/10002/-1
Would that work on a 2001 LS1 trans am rear end? [originally had 3.42]
I just want to know if the posi and everything will work with that and that if i buy it I dont need to replace anything else.
Also since im going to the T56 transmission, if I got these 4.10 gears could you tell me the part # for the speedo gear I would need, thanks.

Yeah those will work just fine on your LS1 rear with 3.42 originally. But your going to spend about $240 more than I did for my 4.11's, and I thought I was paying on the high side. From my understanding, and I might be way wrong, is that Richmond is more of race only gears. I just bought some used ones on ebay (I know risky but no problems, no noise) and am very happy with them.
I wasn't aware that the t56 used speedo gears but I never looked into it since I went with aftermarket gauges and did all my calibrating through them.

Well ill keep looking around for a better deal then.
I may be wrong about the gears, i will probably just keep the 3.42s for a while just to save on money and headache.

that's not a bad idea to try them out first and then decide if you want to change them. I would have done that but the rear end I bought had 3.23's and I new I wanted to put in something shorter so I went with some 4.11's, way to steep for a pretty much stock tpi.

I would have thought 4.11s would be perfect for a T56?

The 4-11's are great with a t56, I just meant that with a long tube runner intake like the TPI whose powerband is between 2000-4500rpm, and using a steep gear like 4.11's that I burn through the powerband too quickly and is actually hurting performance.
4.11's are pretty much IMHO the prestine choice for a M29 t56, and I'm very happy with mine, I just need a new intake lol.

Well get on that then, lol
Everyone says the LS1 rear end is so weak though.... you think its safe to run slicks on them?

I'll get on it as soon as I can, tough to upgrade during a career change and country change lol.
I couldn't say for sure. Runing slicks on the 7.5 ten bolt is just asking to break it. The Ls1 rear is the same 10 bolt in the 3rd gens it has the same 28 spline axles that are found in the later 3rd gen, and the same small gears. I can't speak for why most people put these rears in their cars, but for me it was an upgrade (as I see it) over my 9 bolt since there is zero atermarket support. Plus 12" disks with aluminum single piston caliper. Plus 10 years newer than 3rd gen rears. And they're cheap depending where you live of course.
