i have such bad luck with 700r4's..

as many of you all may remember not to long ago i had to replace my tranny with that out of a junkyard, me being stubborn and lazy failed to change the front pump seal, 2 weeks later it blew out.. tired of fiddling with th is tranny stuff i took the entire car to a local tranny shop where i had them install a new seal, and r&r the tranny and slightly enlarge the drainback hole to keep the seal from blowing out (a problem known to happen with older (pre 85 i think) 700r4's.. well.. just get the car back, and some old man causes me to wreck, so i fix her back up, get her back on the road, then my alternator dies in the middle of nowhere at 3am, so i have it towed home.. put a new alternator in, take it for a test drive, just to find that the towing company FRIED my fairly new tranny.. it being 3am, i didnt think to have the driver d/c the driveshaft before making the 35mi trek home.. now i sit and wait to hear from the garage who better be paying for repairs..

Thats a rough deal man, i had a fight with a tow truck driver once over the same thing... I had a pickup with a turbo 350, he wanted to pull it connected... you MAY have a problem fightin with em, but stick to your guns... Ive found over the years they are told somewhere around 30-35 miles is the acceptable range for towing it connected (even though it should NEVER br allowed.... So depending on their policy, they may try to screw you... If they do, sue the bastards!!! what the heck, right? youve lost enough money on the deal, mine as well burn some with a court case!

well if they give me a hard time i was told to call AAA back and they will investigate, so far i have 4 written statements saying that that car and with that tranny, it should never be towed like that with the driveshaft connected.. so if AAA dont help, i am getting a lawyer..
