How much fluid?
I will be changing my tranny pan gasket soon and I would like to know how much fluid I will need to put back in it, I don't want to overfill. It's a 700r4 and the TC wont be drained, just a simple gasket and filter replace.

Re: How much fluid?
Per shop manual. Pan removal=10.0 pts.(4.7 liters) Fluid level should be to FULL mark with trans fluid at normal operating temp.(200F). With fluid at room temp.,(70F) level will be between the two dimples on the dipstick.

If at all possible you should drain the torque converter also. It makes sense if your going to change the fluids, why not change all of it instead of just some?

Re: How much fluid?
I changed it yesterday, and yeah I had to because the gasket was leaking. Actually, I got under there discovered quite a few bolts that weren't even tight
. Anyways, you guys were right, it took about 4.5 quarts. I used MaxLife ATF since the car has 164k miles on it. I do have a pump so I can drain the fluid without dropping the pan. I'll let it go for a little while and then I will change it again with the pump.
