Swapping trannys
k, I got my NICE black '83 Berlinetta but unfortunately the damn transmission is acting like a bitch. So recently I picked up a t-boned 88 RS. I think they are both the 700R4 or whatever it is
Ok,
1. Can the tranny's be swapped (same style?)
2. Would it be easier, on the totaled RS, to pull the transmission w/ the engine?
3. What should I do to the donor transmission when I have it out and accessable?
4. Anyone need parts from a totaled 88 RS?
Thanks a bunch!

1. Probably. There should be no real problem, keep your current flexplate and bolt on the old tranny. If your car has OD you should be in good shape, you may have just a regular 200-C though which may not have OD where the linkage can become a problem.
2. 700-R4s (Even some cases for T-5s) are much easier to just pull with the engine. It'll save you a lot of time, swearing, and the risk of dropping it on your arm.
3. Clean it up, change the filter, possibly have it flushed. You could add a modified valve body (not for the faint of heart). Your best bet would be to get it rebuilt if you plan to put a lot more miles on the car.
4. Are they free?
