Tranny or somthing else?

I just got my camaro back after having a tranny rebuild (700r4). The problem is it won't shift into third until like 4000-4500 rpms and 4'th just ain't happening.
Is it a bad rebuild or is my timing screwed up or my torque converter? whats the deal here?
Jay

On the drive home after having mine rebuilt I had the same problem. To get it into 4th. I just floored it down, let it hang in 3rd, shifted from OD to D and the back to OD and I got it into 4th. When I got home I was pretty pissed b/c I thought I got screwed on the rebuild, but I took it back out after a few hours and it ran thru the gears perfectly and I haven't had a problem since (knock on wood) and that's been 2,300 miles. Good luck, and I hope everything works out w/ your trans.

I've come to realize that I'm gonna have this car till it pukes for good, b/c I'll never be able to bring myself to sell it.

Could be a few things. A bad governor, a bad TV cable, or a misadjusted TV cable. A bad/misadjusted TV cable could keep your tranny from building up enough line pressure to make a shift at the correct RPM. A bad governor could screw up your shift points, making it shift early or late. If I were you, I'd look at the TV cable first.

I would ask the shop if they went through your valve body as they should have. It is also possible there is a stuck valve.
Regardless, they should warranty thier work so I would bring the car back to them.
