earlier 700 Q's

I have a "Vintage" 700-R4 in my 85 SC, and was curious as to whether it would be more cost effective/easier to simply try to rebuild it to do what I want or try to find another one somewhere. My dillemna is that it won't upshift into fourth at wide open throttle the way I want it to. I have had a downshift sleeve or whatever put in, didn't work. I guess it's because it has a seven vane oil pump instead of the newer ten vane maybe? That and the clutch packs. I'm just wondering what all of your experiences, and suggestions are. I imagine that Pro-built guy would know as well as anyone happen he reads this. Thanks and take care now..
