Hi guys.

I've just destroyed my diff in my Firebird. Its an 87 formula and its a 5.7 V8 5-speed manual. It has a non lsd diff at the moment, but I have no idea what gears/diff ect it actually is. Either way, I just want a new axle for it.

Im in the UK, and axles are kind of hard to come by, and I dont want to be waiting months as its my only car! But a C4 vette axle has just popped up on ebay. I know 4th gen firebird/camaro ones will fit a 3rd gen, but will a C4 vette fit? Im looking for a fairly easy swap, not a swap which involves rebuilding the car and axle first. Im hoping the vette axle is exactly the same type... Anyone know if it is?

A C4 vette has an independent rear supension not a solid rear differential. It can be done but it requires a lot of modification, fabrication and welding. Here is a link that shows the install into a 4th gen, which would be the same amount of work.
