Whining noise....

Whining noise....
I've noticed a whining noise, it actually sounds like I have a turbo charger in my engine...but i cant tell where it comes from. It doesnt come when my cars in neutral, only when I'm in gear. Is it my tranny whining? I dont care, i love the sound..so do people who ride with me.
My question is...is it my tranny...or could it be my rear. I just swapped in 3:73 open.
If it is my tranny...what does that "whining" sound mean?
