Can a V6 5-speed bolt to a V8?
If Im doing a V6-V8 swap will I have to replace the tranny? Or which other parts will I need to get the V6 tranny to match with the V8?
And a better question, how long would a V6 5-speed hold up behind, say, 300HP @ the fly wheel, if driven nicely?
Oh, and it's from an '85 2.8L V6 if it makes a difference.

No, the simple answer is no it wont. The bellhousing pattern is different, the clutch is different, the input shaft is different. However, its possible to get it to work, but its hardly worth the trouble since the trans wont last very long. Save up for a V8 trans.

Yes, It can be done actually surpisingly easy. Basically, everything has to be from a V8 except the tranny itself and V6 clutchplate. If you're planning on driving it nicely it'll hold up, very nicely, that is. People will tell you the gear ratios suck, well they do, but they don't matter enough if you're going to drive it nicely. The gap in the gear ratios won't be noticable as much if you have a numerically low rear end ratio. I'd personally wouldn't do the swap myself. It'd take you much longer to find a V8 bellhousing, flywheel, and PP (unless the former two are bought new) that aren't being sold together with the tranny. You can probably sell your T-5 and make up the difference.

As much as I'd like to tell you you cannot do it because I think its a BAD IDEA, yeah you can.. v6 clutch disk, everything else will line up..
The V6 tranny won't hold up if you beat on it tho.. Hell, the V8 T5s dont even hold up to much..
