Shift improver kits

Alright, I know that I've already asked similar questions, but I have a
bit more knowledge on the subject now, and a few new questions regarding
these shift improvers. Here goes:

1. When I open up my tranny, how can I tell if it's suitable for a
shift kit install, as is. I've heard awful stories about shift kits
eating up already worn trannies. What can I look at as an indicator?

2. I know that transgo is supposed to make the best shift kits around,
but I've also heard they are harder to install and more expensive.
Thoughts, please.

3. Are Hurst shifters any good? I can get one for 50-some bucks
Canadian.

4. If I were to get the Corvette servo, would that also help me? How
much do these run at?

5. Any other wisdom on installing the things?

Thanks again for the help

Kevin

I can only answer #2 question, sorry.
But I have never worked on a tranny so when I decided to put the Trans-Go shift kit in I thought I would really screw it up.
It IS the most expensive SHIFTkit on the market but well worth it, it even comes with a video! The video is great cause it shows pictures and what to expect. But read the directions 2, 3, 4, 5 times just to be really familar with all aspects. Plus they give you additional part numbers for even better performance! So you may want to get those parts too! Total cost for additional parts around $50.
It took me around 6 hours to do the job but I went really slow and double checked all my work. I also just jacked my car up and put it on jack stands. There are a few hard things to do but if I could manage it anyone can! However if you have a friend it could make things alittle easier.
You'll love it when it is done!
Good Luck
