how much of a diffrence?
well i finaly broke down and ordered new gears posi unit and axles for my 82 since i busted the spiders before. well ill be going from a 3.42 gear to 3.73 how much diffrence will i see from doing that and also putting in my ls1 alum ds at the same time. i know ill be turning more rpm on the highway but for now the car mainly sees around town driving. will i feel much a diff with this gear swap with my launches, s.o.t.p? with my old setup (binding spiders) i could stall it up to about 2100 and launch it and with my old 235/60-15's id smoke em for a good 20-30ft and leave two 5ft black marks shifting into second at 6500. i still may swap out my converter for a 3500 if my launches arent much better. when i did those test with my old hoosier tires that was with 35-40psi in them for street driving and they were dry rotted. with my new street wheel/tire combo im running 275/40-17 kuhmo escta supra aired down to 25psi and they hook decent they will just bark when i hit second. for track i plan to get me a good set of dr for my old rims looking for a good 275/60-15. anyway over all stupid question on my part but jw what to expect.

Re: how much of a diffrence?
It won't actually be that much of a difference.... the gearing is pretty close. I would imagine it shouldn't hurt city mileage much. I went from 2.73 to 3.42 and my takeoff was only marginally better, but mileage actually improved.

Re: how much of a diffrence?
yea i wouldnt think ill notice much diff. i went from 2.73 and stock converter with this motor in my 86 t/a to 3.42 with 2800 stall in the 82 and it drives ocmpletely diff. still needed more stall/gear though on take off. i was gona go with a 4.11 gear but got a good deal on the 3.73's so i went that way.
