Factory 9.5" ring gear????

I just got a 1984 Camaro F41 as a parts car and when I ran the RPO's I came up with this:

Y06 : Ring Gear, 9.50 IN., Saginaw, (S.P. 0.)

What is going on??? Did I strike gold or something??? What exactaly is does this option mean?
Thanks in advance,
Michael

don't know for sure about the f41, but you should have a 7.5 or 7.62 ring gears. the old style 10 bolts were 8.5 and there were a few 8.2. dana makes a 9.75 ring gear and ford has the 9 inch. i'd guess it's a typo or something of that nature.

I doubt that option is in the car. A 9 1/2" ring gear is the small 14 bolt diff. It was available in 90-93 454SS trucks. The large 14 bolt diffs are 10 1/2" and come in 3/4 and 1 ton trucks.

Climb under the car and count the bolts on the diff cover.

I have no idea what a F41 car is.

Drum brakes? Those are 9.50" ...

The ring gear is the 7½" like every other 84. I've seen quite a few cars from around that year with the "F41" badging, they were usually 2.8 cars, occasionally MPFI. I don't think it was the same thing as the RPO code for the suspension.

Well, this car has the L4G 305 with heavy duty cooling. It has a factory optioned oil cooler. It also has the RPO code F41 and when I looked under ther car, there were thick anti-roll bars! Cool! The engine threw a rod through the side of the pan, but I got the car for parts for my 85 anyway. I am gonna pull the fan shroud, oil cooler, A/C lines, and anti-roll bars. I may pull the seats too, cause they are in good shape.
