3:27's instead of 3:73's?
3:27's instead of 3:73's?
What would be involved and how hard would it be to swap a stock 3:27 rearend in place of gas guzzling 3:73's. I just can't afford the gas up here in Canada, plus I like the 3:27 gears because of it's mix of decent acceleration and highway mileage. I do ALOT of highway driving. The guy who owned the car before me put in the 3:73's.

The 3.73 would be a 10 bolt. The 3.27 would be a 9 bolt. If both are drums or disks then it's a direct swap (complete housings). If one is drum and the other is disk then you'll need to change the proportioning valve and probably the brake cables and hoses.
All third gen rear ends are direct swaps from model to model. 4th gen diffs can also fit but they are 2" wider per side.
