Help me figure out my 700r4
I put in a 700r in my camaro, it shifts great in all gears except OD. When i bring it above 2000rpm in 3rd, the shift to OD is an odd one. the rpms will stop climbing when its about to shift, sit at that rpm for a few seconds then finally lazily go into 4th.
the car continues to accelerate through the whole shifting process.
this is if i have a more-than-normal foot on the gas. if i am driving normally the tranny shifts fine. also, as soon as i want to start accelerating in od it immediatly downshifts into 3rd. is that normal??
is that rpm pause simply my TC locking up before shifting?

Not sure about the poor shifting you are experiencing in your 4th gear but the downshift at full throttle is unfortunately normal. There are a few kits to eliminate this. I bought one from GM for the B4C police package but have yet to install it. (not sure how!!) If you havent changed your fluid in a while, give that a try.

89Iroc, the procedure's not that bad for the GM valve. What was the part # on that?
If you get an ATSG service manual, it has the same info that's in the GM/Helms "full" service manual. It also has a few service bulletins in the back. You would be replacing the "TV Sleeve", which can be done by just dropping the pan.
I bought my ATSG manual for $15 from Northern Auto Parts. Their website is at http://www.northernautoparts.com and it has their phone # on it. Give 'em a call. And do you have the part # of that GM valve?
