Car: 1985 Camaro/89 Merkur XR4Ti
Engine: 5.0 305 LG4/2.3 Turbo (180hp/205tq)
Transmission: TH700R4 with Shift Improver Kit/T-9
Axle/Gears: 3.42LT1 Rear/3.64
700r4 and LT1 Rear (issues)
Ok so heres my problem. My car has a 700r4 transmission in it, which has a shift kit. Now, when I had my stock 3.08 and even when I changed to the 3.27 posi, I had no problems at all. Now recently I completed a 4th gen rearend swap, 3.42 gears. The car seems to have trouble shifting from 1-2nd, seems like the tranny is slipping to me, but never have had this problem. I have no idea whats going on so I need some help, I dont know anything about transmissions.

Changing the rearend shouldn't have had any effect on the way the trans operates. The only simple things I could recommend would be checking your trans fluid level, and also check to make sure the trans TV cable is adjusted properly. TV cable adjustment affects the shift points. If that doesn't cure your problem, then you might have a trans that's on its way out.
