Shaking shifter at high speeds
Shaking shifter at high speeds
so i have a 2.8 mpfi standard 5spd camaro 1987 with a stage 1 chip, and at high speeds maybe about 90+; it starts at the ending of 4th gear at 4800 rpms and keeps it up in 5th gear after i shift 4th at 5100rpms; its a very violent shaking on the shifter and i want to know how to fix this problem; when i let off the gas the shaking becomes less violent at 90+ but when im pushing it the shaking is so violent its hard for me to hold it without my arm being shook with it. haha i have replaced the tranny mounts 2 times already due to me dumping my clutch and snapping them
, a brand new one is in it and i know thats not the problem, so. if anyone knows how to fix this it would be very appreciated, im thinking maybe, clutch?? or replacing the old rubber bushings or whatever it is underneith the trannymount. but im not very good with the drivetrain, im more of an engine guy/computer guy.

Re: Shaking shifter at high speeds
from what i remember, thats a common problem. it has to do with the steel driveshaft, get an aluminum one and it should be good to go. i think people are selling them for less that $50 bucks on the classified boards.
