Were can I drill hole to mount sensor?
I got a tranny temp gauge and it comes with a 3/8" and 1/2 plug with a 1/8" hole through its center for the sensor to screw into.
Are there any holes that are any of those sizes all ready drilled into the housing of a 89+ 700R4 so I don't have to go into the pan?

Not that I know of. You can tap the pan, say in the front, but you need to make sure it clears on the inside.
Outside of that you can buy a AutoMeter transmission manifold #2286 for 3/8 & #2287 for 5/16. This allows you to tap the oil line.
Good Luck,

I put a B&M drain plug in my tranny last summer. It is towards the front, where there is no interference with anything inside. It made it so easy doing oil changes on that thing. Anyway, two months ago I put a temp gauge on it. It was quite convenient because the sensor screwed right into the nut for the drain plug. Killed two birds with one stone, and never had a problem with it leaking. Good luck.
