3.73 Gear Swap
Hey folks,
Where can I find the procedure for swapping the speedo gears for a 3.08 to 3.73 rear? Is it simple? Can someone please tell me how to do it? Thanks.

the gear for the speedo is on the end of the cable where it goes inside the trans. just unbolt the cable and pull it out and you'll be looking at a plastic gear. that's it. slides right off.

That is if you only have to change the driven gear. If you have to change the drive gear (or both, as you often have to do with an extreme gear change), then you have to remove the tail on the end of the tranny and swap the drive gear on the output shaft.
You don't state your tranny but I will assume the procedure is relatively similar for both. Also, there is a sleeve on the output shaft that often must be changed too.
I strongly urge you to get a good shop manual if you have to replace the drive gear.
