rebuilding a 200

I want to rebuild a 200-4r in my auromatics class and I was wondering who makes a quality, complete (everything but steels) kit. I understand Napa and B&M are no good but who is? What is a good price for a guaranteed rebuildable core, ~150? Also what can I do to increase the torque capacity of this underdog tranny? Thanks

I think that if you do rebuild that tranny, use another one in your car!!! I have a 200 with a shift kit, (I bought it that way) and after about three years or so I have no second gear. Oh yeah, my mods are K&N and that's it. Although maybe the R4 means more heavy duty as well as an overdrive?
just a thought.

What does your fluid look like? Is there a lot of clutch material or any metal? I think 200 is the relative torque rating of the tranny which is much less than a 700 but I want a 200 anyway. The benefits include(700vs.200) higher first and overdrive gears which is my primary reason but every 200 also came with a lockup torque convertor. I have no idea why the 4r is switched compared to a 700-r4.

The 2004r can be built to withstand a lot of abuse. The Buick Grand National guys have been running them into the 9's with some beefed up parts and easily run in the 11's with stock units. The stock GN trannies had a few upgrades from the factory, but I believe it was mostly in the valve body. You might want to post your question over at their site:
