Lock up Vs. Non Lockup

Looking to switch to apx 2400 rpm stall. I currently run high r's down the freeway and I do a lot of highway driving. The 3.73 rear gears and No OD don't help. I am leaning toward Lockup but not 100% how performance is effected. Also Trany cooler or not? Any help is awesome!

Go with the lockup,if ya don't have a lock up it will slip more in fourth gear and turn more RPM's.For sure go with a trans cooler, any time you add a stall you will add more heat to the tranny.

A lock-up converter won't work with a th350. You need the th350-C. If the tranny didn't come with a lock-up converter stock, you can't install one and have it work now.
A tranny cooler will extend the life of your tranny, especially with a higher stall converter.

How do I know if I have a lock up or not already? And how do I know if the trany is a TH-350 C? This is the first that I have heard of such a thing.

I th350C will have an electrical plug in somewhere on the tranny to control the lock-up. A computer usually controls this, but a toggle switch can be used as well as a vacuum switch.

You have a 327 w/5.7 stroke? Or do you have 5.7 inch rods.

95% sure it is 5.7" stroke. They call it a large journal 327. If I bored it again and droped in a 400 crank it would be a 383. But I am not an expert. I was told by a couple people that it is a rare block.

About the trany I am positive there is a vacume line running to the trany. So that must mean I have the TH350C w/ a Lock up convertor.

A 327 has 3.25 stroke. The large journal isn't much better than a small journal. It may be a little bit stronger, but 327 small journal engines will take alot of abuse. The 5.7 is the rod length. A 350 has a 3.48 stroke. I 383 'stroker' has a 3.75 stroke.

A 327 has a 4" bore and a 3.25" stroke! If you had a 5.7" stroke that would be one tall block! ROTFLMAO! I'm sure they are 5.7" rods.
