hey guys got a prob, car poped out of gear in 3rd at wot, when u let off it grabs again, but as soon as u apply over half throttle it loses third again, it did it total of 3 times real fast before i pulled over (engine bounced off 7000 rpms). looks like atf threw up out of the dipstick (about half a quart when it happend). when u put the shifter into OD its neutral, but D,2,1, and R it engages and the car moves. I limped it 1/4 mile back to the storage yard and park it, trans fluid is not burned so i think the clutches are fine,
but i think i blew a major seal for it to throw up out of the dipstick like that.

trans is a b&m street strip 700r4 with a 2400 hole shot convertor and i have a trans cooler on it, its got about 20000 very very hard miles on it.

so what do u guys think?

 

From my personal experience, same symptoms as you, the 3-4 clutches were shot in my last 700. It worked fine, i jumped on it getting onto the freeway and it never shifted to 3rd. The fluid was ok, but it was a stock trans, i would think B&M may use Alto clutches in their stuff.

 

my last stock 700r4 burned 3-4 clutches only had 1-2, but this trans still has 3rd but 4th is neutral.
