Just for the heck of it. 4L60E information requested.

In the myraid of thoughts to come across my mind I was thinking about the 4L60E and 4th gens. Once upon a time I was in a 4th gen with an auto and noticed a switch for second gear start. How does the 4L60E recieve commands from the computer? Is it just one hot wire per gear or does it vary the voltage? I'm just curious because what came across my mind was modifing a P-N switch and having a "manaul" shift auto. Thanks.

12V is sent directly to the trans, and there it is distributed to all the solenoids. Then the ECM grounds each solenoid as needed.

P.S. There isn't "one solenoid per gear" there are two solenoids to control the three shift, plus a 3-2 downshift solenoid, so If you are serious about doing it, I suggest you learn alot about it first.

Nope. Not really serious...(i.e. "Just for the heck of it") but thanks for the info. Just another one of my ideas. If you know a good place to study up on an 4L60E please let me know. Thanks.
