Whats this built TH350 worth?
Whats this built TH350 worth?
A guy I know is selling a TH350 that was in his 750 horse big block K5 Blazer. He says make him an offer. He also said it cost 2200 bucks to build that tranny. Is it worth my time to even think about a TH350 for my 3rd gen, and what should I offer him?

I'd imagine you could rebuild one yourself, and beef it up for much less...

I paid $250 for a rebuild kit(paper & rubber and Raybestos clutches), and paid my buddy $100 to rebuild it (he builds race trannys).
He blueprinted it and added a few extra clutches and steels.
If you want to beef it up even more you can get a stronger sprag for about $200.
As is it's supposed to be good for 600-650HP. With the sprag- ~800HP.
I also had the torque converter (non-LU) rebuilt and "tweaked" to a 2600RPM stall for $40.
The previous owner had installed a B&M shift kit, that stayed the same.
It shifts BAD @SS! it will chirp the tires at 1/4 throttle on the 1-2 and haze them on the 2-3 at WOT (behind a Goodwrench350).
You can get an aftermarket TH350 built the same way for about $1,000 and a converter for about $200.

A K5 Blazer would be a 4x4. Let him keep the tranny. It would cost you even more because the 4x4 tranny bolts right to the transfer case. You need to strip it down and put the proper length tail shaft on it to work in a car.
