I think my 700 just died

Was driving the IROC down the hwy. and went to pass a car...floored the gas and it downshifted then the rpms shot up like it was in neutral. I was about to turn anyway so I took off from the light and thought everything was okay. Went through 1st no problem, shifted to second just fine, but wouldn't shift into 3rd. Then it started slowing down. I could hold 30mph w/ the tach sitting on 2500.

Pulled into a gas station to check the fluid...off the dipstick so I put in 3(!) quarts to fill it back up. I don't know where the hell 3 quarts could have gone, but anyway... SAME THING. Made no difference whatsoever. Basically I lost 3rd and 4th gear. I'm thinking it ran low SOMEHOW on fluid and cooked the bands/clutches/maybe the sprag (?). What do the experts think?

thanks,

You probably burnt up the 3-4 clutches, then the tranny got hot and puked out vent tube. It happens, time for a rebuild. Sorry.
