I know this conversion has been done too, i would go with a 700r but the car has not tranny or engine so i am gonna out a mild 350 and a th350 tranny in it. I have heard that the 700r to th350 takes some work too, but since there is nothing it the car it sould be a lil easier. But i need to know anything you can tell me about this conversion too.

b&m makes a bracket to mount the torque arm and relocates the trans mount. about 80 dollars from jegs. makes it easy swap.

I seen that lastnight, looks like a pretty cool idea, but i was just thought it couldnt be that easy. What exactly is a torque arm? Im new with these cars im used to a 81 chevy truck.

The leaf springs in your truck hold your rear axle square to the frame,and to keep it from twisting from the torque,under hard acceleration. Third and fourth gens use a torque arm to keep the diff from twisting under acceleration. Th TQ arm is a steel bracket that runs from the differential to the tranny. You have to remember that your driveshaft from the 700 WILL NOT work. It will be 3in to short. You will have to find a DS from an 82 auto car, or have a custom one made.
