i have a 87 z28 with a 305 tbi and 700r4. somebody ahs converted this car over to carburation and removed the computer, and in turn it burned up the tranny. So my question is what needs to be done to the trannsmission so it doesnt burn up anymore?

You can have the transmission rebuilt and you can go to summit or jegs and purchase a lock-up wiring kit so the transmission will lock up without use of the ECM. Or you can purchase a new non-lockup transmission that does not require a lock up convertor. I do know that Performance Automatic makes one for arounf $1300.00. But that transmission will have to be rebuilt.
