T-5 noise and ????'s

I just installed a B&M shifter on my T-5 in my '90 Iroc. Now when the car is cold and I put it into 5th, there's a noise, sounds like a syncro noise. Once everything is warm the noise virtually goes away. After hearing this noise, I realize that it was always there, but it was very faint (I'm guessing because the stock shifter was insulated better to reduce noise). I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what's causing this noise, and I guess since it's always been there, it should be safe to use 5th once everything is warm right? Thanks for the help.

The same thing happened to me so it is normal you just have to live with it!! Yes the Ripper transfers more noise than stock and it can be annoying.
