tranny swap, TH400...

I'm debating on what trans to go with for my future BBC. I know it's pretty simple to swap in a th350, either by getting one with a 9" tailshaft or by getting a shaft from an 82 f-body. But what about a th400 how would I go about doing that swap? I think the 400 is about 1" longer, is cutting the shaft involved or is there another way ???

not too many ways around cutting the drive shaft, can't really relocate the engine forward.

Would moving the diff back 1" with adjustable LCA's be excessive? The tires would probably rub on the back of the fenders.

The driveshaft would have to be modified anyway since the 400 and 350 u-joints are different. You need a TH400 yoke on the front of the driveshaft.

Get the Hurst (or other) T400 adapter kit, then get a driveshaft cut and balanced with the correct u-joints on it. Anything else will probably just be problems.

welp, i know what ya gotta do- my 88 formula had one in it- you need to put in a weld in cross member to mount the third rear end member to, plus you will have to cut that too. also, just get a new driveshaft made. going rate here is 200 bucks for a brand new MADE drive shaft with the best uni's
