Car: 87 trans am gta
Engine: 355 ci
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 327 for now work in progress
flex plate?

is it possible to replace a flexplate without removing the trans my thinking is to remove crossmember driveshaft all the bell bolts but the bottom 2 but replace them with like 5 inch long bolts and slide the trans back will this work

Yes, it'll work if you disconnect the cooler lines and pull the dipstick tube. You're practically removing the transmission that way anyway, just not lowering it out of the car.
