few questions about th350 swap (yep i checked old posts first)

couldnt find these answers. ..anyway I have a th350 in the garage and a dying 700r4 in my camaro. i was thinking of doing a temporary switch, until i can get a good 700r4 built. im just not sure if it's worth it though. i would love to get a complete parts list from someone who's done this before. im not sure about the tailshaft lenght, so the driveshaft question is still in the air. but i do want to know about the th200 torque arem mount...will this work on the th350? and if so, will this hold true for only the short-shaft 350? if this is a temp swap i dont want to buy more than a shifter, and shift/detent cables...so im runnign a slim chance. will my poly mount from the 700 bolt to the 350? i guess i could just make a little plate to hook the new trans to the 700 cross member, it shouldnt be too big a deal for a temp job. let me know if theres anything else to consider! aside from the low 1st gear...which will probably suck with the 3.08's out back. thanks guys!

First your right your DS will be too short, If you can find a 82 camero of firebird the DS from eithor will work. GM didn't put 700's in f-bodies until 83. The TQ arm needs a mount on the tranny for a stock arm. The kits from summit and jegs work fine. The one problem I ran across is I had to use the shifter cable brackets off a 200 tranny, I tried brackets of a 700 car but i couldn't get them to work. I'm not sure why. I don't know about the shifter or cable. I used the stock ones. Any other ? just ask

I took my cross member to a local welding/machine shop and they welded a little bracket on it that cost me $5. If I ever want to go back it shouldn't be hard to cut it off. As for the torque arm I bought the B&M conversion kit and I think it was a waste of money. I needed to retrofit it to make it work and it ended up not being strong enough to support the higher torque from the whomping new engine. I would suggest the looking into the spohn torque arm and TH350 retrofit cross member. If the taxes come back this year like last year that is going to be my spring project.

The trany mount is the same.

My 82 TA has a 350th and it appears they had the tailshaft from the 200 put on the 350th. Everything bolts up and the stock shifter hardware is on it.

i put a th350 in a 88 and have a th350 in my 85. near as i can tell the drive shaft will work fine if you use the long tail houseing, 9" i think. you'll need b&m pn 30299 for the torque arm, and it relocates the trans mount forward from the cross member. not sure about the shifter and all that, i used hurst parts for that.
