91 RS Automatic Mount

i think i have a little demon or something that hangs out under my tranny cus the mounts dont seem to hold up 2 anything. I gotten damn good at changing the mounts, this time it will be polyurethane. But my question is about the crossmember. I change it without taking it off. Takes a lil wiggle and some elbow grease but it goes in. I do this cus i was told that its not good to take off the cross member because it get out of alignment. Is this true or am i jus wasting all that effort and could get it done alot easier?

Thanks

One more thing what kind of tranny is in my car? its a 91 RS 3.1 automatic

Hey I broke 3 rubber mounts with my manual T-5. 2 with the v-6 t-5 combo and 1 with the v-8 muncie combo. I finally went to a poly mount and with a richmond 6-speed once i broke the muncie. I have had no probs since. I am not sure but I have never heard of having alignment problems if you take out the cross member. I always taken it out myself. I put a jack under the tranny and un bolt it. Takes about a half hour, taking most of the time jacking the car up and putting on jack stands and back down. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but you shouldn't have any alignment probs when taking out the crossmember. To make absoult sure, when reinstalling look at the round marks scraped into the crossmember by the bolts, and make sure the the bolt match excatly into those marks when it goes back in. That way you will know it is back into the exact same position.

use ES poly mounts and take the cross member off.

You can do it either way, whichever is easier for you. You won't hurt anything taking the x-member off. I usually do.
