hi im new to the site. i recently picked up a 1990 iroc-z no motor no trans. I rebuilt a 350 from scratch to put in it. im thinking its pushing around 400hp. and now its time to buy a transmission. i am wanting to go with the 700r4. thats what was originally in it. but needless to say im going to need a wayyy stronger one and have no idea on where to get one at and pricing and suggestions would be apprectiated

There are several companies that specialize in these and can easily fill your needs in that power level Search the net?

 

my mechanic rebuilt mine with a friend, i told him i needed this thing to handle assloads of power. he told me what it would cost, and it was done. rebuilding the transmission isnt brain surgery but it is costly, but if u have a work bench and access to tool, chances are u can pick up a rebuild kit and do it yourself, not only will you save money but youll gain the experience so later on down the line if it ever breaks, you can fix it.
