gear question

Can the gear ratio in a GM 10 bolt be changed by replacing the ring and pinion or is a whole new rear end required? I wanna put 3.73s in my '91 RS.

Your RS probably has an open rear end now, right? Go to www.slponline.com and get their take off torsen posi for $100. Then get your 3.73 gears (3 series carrier with that posi), along with the correct speedo gears for your trans, so your speedo will read correctly. Then pay a good shop to install it all for you, as gear installs are very tricky and require special equipment. Good luck!

Thanks! I'll check into that. I have 2.73s in the RS and they suck! My '85 Z28 has 3.23s (3.27s?) and it accelerates soooooo much quicker than the RS. I think the TPI induction has a little to do with that, but I know my RS could move faster with steeper gears!
