TV-cable compatibility old vs. new???

Howdy. I just swappped an old 700R4 (or maybe it was a 200C) from an '83 camaro and replaced it with a newer (30 spline?) version. My question deals with the TV cables... the camaro's old cable is broken, but has a different piece to attached it to the throttle (it looks like a long "slide-bar") than does the newer-style tv cables (which use the little green "knobby thing"). Is this due to a change from carbs to TBI/EFI, or is it b/c of a difference in trannies?

I hope you can understand what I'm talking about...

'83 HOmaro--doesn't run
'92 Bird--burnt to a crisp
'78 T/A 400--fast, Burt Reynold's style
'83 Buick LeSabre--the Ghetto Cruiser

Milt, it's probably because of both differences- the carb & the trans. I thought '83 V8's with automatics got the TH-700r4? I know '83 V6's definately got the 3-speed 200C...

if ti had the long slide type connector then its a 200 or lousy 350turbo! the 700's all used a clickover stud looking type you mentioned! new or old 700's! used the same exact type youmentioned last!
