Rear end identification

What are some ways i can identify a posi to a non posi unit? The rear end i have found, the owner claims it a posi unit out of a 97 camaro,i just wanna be sure i'm getting a posi before a dump out some cash.

If it looks like this, with nothing inside except 4 gears and a shaft, then it is a standard differential. Anything else will be some kind of limited slip differential (posi).
